Mr. A. P. Whatman, who is convening the meeting of returned soldiers which is to be held in the Town Hall on Wednesday next, is known to soldiers throughout the length and breadth of the Dominion as their friend and champion. His public acts of generosity and his many munificent gifts are too well known to require mention. IndividuaJJy, hundred’s of returned men aro grateful to him for assistance and advice. "When the machinery of the Pensions Department failed the administration of the Disclwgad Soldiers’ Settlement and Repatriation Acts resulted in injustice or hardship to a soldier, Mr. Whatman has always been ready to lend his influence in getting wrongs righted. He is known to the Pensions, Land, and Defence authorities as n fighter who always has justice on his side, and who always tempers hie justice with a big-hearted generosity.
