Hemp and Wool. Manila market quiet and easier. J grade, March-May and April-June shipments, sold down to £35 10s.; G grade, March-May shipments, quoted at £37 10s. per ton. New Zealand market quiet at about quotations already given. Fair grade, £3l 15s. Stocks of New Zealand on hand at February 28, 292 tons against 211 tons at same time last year. Wool.—Sales continue without material change in prices. Competition, if anything, slightly more general. Series will close on March 23 instead or March 28. Fruit. Market firmer. Supplies of English apples decreasing, and improved prices are being maintained for imported. Washington Spitzenburg, 12s. 6d. to 14s. per box; Washington Stayman’s Winesap, 12s. 6d. to 14s. per box; Oregon Newton, 13s. 6d. to 15s. per box: Californian Newton, 13s. to 14s. per box. Cape of Good Hope pear's arriving in good condition and selling freely at 4h. to Gs. per box of 18 to 28. OTHER ADVICES Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited, report having received the following cablegram from their London house, under date March 16: —Butter market quiet.
