DEATH IN SHOOTING GALLERY
By tbiiEgraph.—Press association. Auckland, March 19. Alfred. Jules Ferdinand Smith, fourth engineer of the Hauraki, aged 27„ died in hospital ns the result of a rifle shot. Tie fired twelve shots at Hazard’s miniature rifle range. After he fired the next shot the attendant saw him fall to the floor. A doctor found that the bullet had.entered the skull just over the ear. It appears that the shot could not have been the result of an aceidoi’t. Smith had been despondent after receiving a letter V* Gio -v.*> Homo mail.
