LABOUR’S CREED

SOCIALIST COMMONWEALTH BRITISH PARTY STATES OBJECTIVE BY TELEGRAPH— PRESS ASSOCIATION. —Copyright. (Itec. March 19, 7.20 p.m.) London, March 19 An official manifesto stating the objects of the Labour Party has been issued. It urges that immediate steps be taken to make land and all natural resources the property of the people. •‘The success or failure of Labour.” it says, “will depend upon the extent to which it believes in Socialism. The desperate conditions of the world today can only be remedied by drastic action, but we do not stand for bureaucratic State. Socialism. We look to the trade unions to curry on the work o( productive service in a Socialist Commonwealth, and be responsible for tho internal management of industry, ya industry is the concern, not only ot the men in the workshop, but of the women of tho house and consumers. We propose that the consumers, as organised in co-operative societies, shall tiel' in conjunction with the workers in any industry. “The Independent Labour Party believes that modern wars are mainly caused by the greed of competing capitalist groups in opposition to economic Imperialism, which seizes territory and exploits it in the interests of pronteers. We advocate a world organisation of free peoples and co-opera-tion in the production and distribution of the world’s goods. We recognise that the interests of the workers throughout the world, of whatever colour, race, and creed, are one, and I hat the Socialist Commonwealth must ultimately bo international.
