Owing to unfavourable weather, tho completion of the annual anniversary day tournanie-iit, and the Dewar Imperial Trophy Competition was delayed until last week-end. when the bowling was finished under fine conditions, although the wind was rather troublesome at times. The final proved a far more interesting game than the score indicates, and was witnessed by a largo number of spectators, amongst those present being Mr. <l. Tonks. representative of Messrs. Dewar’s. The opposing team wore as follows: —Haswell, R. Johnston, Purchas. Hazlewood (s.) ; Chas. Road, Hallam. Mowtoll, J. B. Reid (s.). Until the 14th head the •mine was “neck and nock.” tho score being 11 all. On the 15th, 16th and 17th"heads Reid added 4 points, and was again lying on the 18th when Hazlewood by a fine drive made a dead head. On the 19th head Reid’s team were lying 3 good shots, hut Hazlewood with his last howl drew the shot making tho score 17—12. The 20th head ended tho match, Reid’s men

lying all round the jack. Purchas drove, but cut out their nearest shot, the skips going to the mat Reid 4 up which he increased to 5, the head ending the game. Reid, 22: Hazlewood, 12. A feature of the game was the magnificent drawing of Chas. Read, who was consistently on the jack, and proving no small factor in his team’s victory. The Dewar trophy was won by Hazlewood’s team, they having the smallest number of points scored against them throughout the qualifying rounds of the competition, and altogether putting up a great record. The Tonks Diamonds were retained by the club’s champion Diamond players, Messrs. Dillon and Shore. No games have yet been played for the Stansell Feathers, but the match committee ar© contemplating the matter before the end of the season, as also tho Junior Pins Competition. Tho prizes will be presented at the chib’s annual smoke concert which will be held about April 18. INSURANCE V. LAW. Tho annual bowhng match between teams representing the insurance offices and combined banks and law offices was held on the Eastbourne green on Saturday. The insurance emnnanies werq the hosts for the occasion. Luncheon was served in the Eastbourne pavilion, and afternoon tea dispensed on the green by Airs. Alarqiiis, who was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Air. C. L. Green’s silver challenge cup, which will in future bo tilaved for annually, was won b.v Banks and Law by 1 point. Following are the scores.
