CHEMIST’S APPRENTICE TAKES POISON BY Telegbaph.—Press association. —COPYRIGHT. (Rec. March 11, 5.5 p.m.) London, March 10. Benjamin Bourne, a ]4-year-old Leicester chemist’s apprentice, committed suicide under amazingly dramatic circumstances. Bourne was reprimanded for taking a bottle of sweets. He went home, attended church, and afterwards proceeded to force an entry into the shop. Later a policeman heard moaning and found Bourne dead. The lad had taken prussic acid. A poison bottle and an empty glass were near by. The boy had written a will beginning “Satan and God are my witnesses.” He wrote to the coroner. “I am going to kill myself because I am not fit to live. You will say ‘Killed during temporary inrantiy. He then wrote a timetable: “11/10, just taken out the posion; 11/15 poured it out and taken it.” A verdict was returned that Bourne was not responsible for his actions. —Au?.-N.Z. Cable Assn. ■
