The Hon. W. Noswortliy, Minister of Agriculture, returned from the Masterton show last night.
Sir Walter James, K.C., late Premier of Western Australia,. arrived last night from Napier. ' He is spending a holiday in New Zealand.
The Hon. E- P. Lee, who was Minister of Industries and Commerce until he wag. defeated at the general election, was paid a tribute at the annual conference of the Industrial Corporation of New Zealand yesterday, 'lhe following motion was passed: “That the Industrial Corporation place on record the deepest appreciation and thanks of the Wellington, Auckland, Otago, and Canterbury manufacturersand”of the corporation for the inestimable services rendered and help and assistance off-ired 4;o tlw secondary industries of New Zealand bv the Hon.' E P. Lee during liis term of office as a Minister of the Crown.”—Press Assn.
Dr. Pinfold has left Wellington to attend the sessions of the Methodist Conference opening in Dunedin to-mor-row.
Mr. T. M. Charters, who has held the position of district repatriation officer for Canterbury and Westland since the inception of the Repatriation Department, in January, 1919, has resigned to take over tho Christchurch managership of tho Australian Provincial Association, Ltd. Mr. Charters was for six years with the South British Insurance Company and for six vears with Messrs. Kinsev and Co. He saw two vears’ service in the war and attained captain’s rank. Mr. E- J. Cunningham, of the Wellington Customs staff, was the recipient of a set of stainless cutlery and carvers from his office colleagues on the occasion of his approaching marriage. Mr. K. H. Smyth made the presentation on behalf of the staff.
