SOCIAL LIFE IN MUNICH
ENJOYMENT OF SIMPLE PLEASURES. The Rev. Father Goudringor, of tho faculty of St. Patrick’s College, who lias been for a trip round the world during the last fourteen months, holds that the most perfect social life exists in . Munich, in Bavaria. “There tho people are simple and devout, merryhearted, and peace-loving,” _ he _ said yesterday. “They have their simple pleasures, and always enjoy them en fanrille. OF an evening nearly everyone adjourns to the beautiful biergartens,' as big as tho Basin Reserve, and there the elders drink their beer —which is light and very cheap—the lads and lasses flirt, and the children play to the accompaniment of very delightful music. In these places, whore everything is upon and drunkenness unknown, friends may meet every evening of their lives, and enjoy themselves thoroughly at an infinitesimal cost. Tlie Bavarian* are, too, exceedingly artistic. Munich is a city of beautiful churches, and each one is a casket containing wonderful works of art.” - .
