FURTHER JUDGING RESULTS SPECIAL PRIZE WINNERS BY TELEGRAPH—SPECIAL BKPORTER. Feilding, February .6. The weather fur the second day of the Feilding Show was a considerable improvement on that of yesterday. Occasional showers fell in the morning, but the sky cleared up about noon, and a fine afternoon lollowed. The side-shows wore unable to erect their tents on Tuesday, but they were in full swing to-day. Tho attendance was fair. It was not so good as usual, but there must have been about 3000 people on the ground. An innovation for agricultural shows was the inclusion of events for athletes and two motor-cycle races. They were well contested, and proved of exceptional interest. The management of the show was good. , The grand parade at 2 p.m. gave the public a good opportunity of seeing a line display of splendid stock. The Horses. The judging of the horses was completed to-day. While the harness horses and draughts were only fair, the hacks were a really good class, the champion, Mrs. Hugh Gillies Captain Glossop, following up his successes at many other shows by winning outright tho challenge trophy for lady’s hade. There was a large entry of ponies (over 81), and some remarkably good riding_ was shown by the young folk, especially over the jumps. Cattle In the fat cattle section the prizes Were monopolised by Mr. T. A. Duncan. The quality of the entries was g The Shorthorn champion bull, W. F, Jacob and Son’s Te Marama Prince 4th, is a splendid animal for his age>Tha champion cow, Mr. TV. Gray s Ftagrant Mint, defeated her younger competitors easily. In Herefords, Mr. A. E. Sandilands, a new exhibitor in the class, won the male championship with one of Mr. Ernest Short’s stock. Chancellor 125. sust over two years old. The chamf>ion cow was also owned by Mr. Sandp ands, but was bred by himself. The Ayrshire prizes were all carried off by Mr. A. Montgomerie. No bull over a year was shown. The champion cow, Glencairn Agnes, over three years old, in common with the other prizewinners, .was a perfect specimen of the breed. Besides being numerous, the Jerseys, as at the Levin Show, were a very fine class, and a credit to the exhibitors. Dr. F. T Watson showed a fine bull in Matchless Raleigh. Mr. R. L. Horn’s Kuku Sweet Pea carried off the female, championship. Only two Friesian bulls were, exhibited, and tho male championship was not awarded. Mr. W. I. Lovelock won the championship in cows with Domino Show Belle. My. Lovelock is probably the oldest Friesian breeder in the Manawatu. In milking Shorthorns. Mr. R. V. Brown carried off the points prize, as well as the championship for bulls , with Dorn. Gibson Daphne, and the female championship with Matangi Jimmy 11. Grade dairy cattip were not present in large numbers, but the Lancasters carried off most of tho prizes, with Horn Bros, a good second. Sheep. Ever since Mr. E. Short, of Parorangi, commenced exhibiting Romneys, over twenty years ago, the breed bus taken a prominent pb.ee in the shows at Palmerston and Feilding. The entries here this year were numerous, the class excellent, and tho competition keen. In stud Romneys Mr. J E. Hewitt carried off tho honours with 46 points, although Mr. W. C,. Small’s ram was awarded the championship, and Mr. E. Short’s son tho championship for ewes. The entries in eleven classes totalled 1261. The points pr.zofor certain classes was secured ly AV. Reid, of Feilding, with 28 points, all secured in the farmers’ class. He is a very old exhibitor, and reached the happy position for the first time at this show. , Lincolns, the once popular lor l wool breed, were in short supply. Mr. W Howard Booth swept the board and only left a few crumbs for Mr. T. R. Tavior. Southdowns were a good class both . in number and quality. Although MrJames Knight’s supremacy- was seriously challenged, he took the gold medal and breeders’ cup for 2-tooth ram, winning the cup outright. Ihc champion ram was exhibited by Mr0. E. Vile, and the champion ewe bv Mr. J. Knight. . Sir James Wilson had the _ Shropshire class to himself, and his fourteen exhibits were a credit to him. The Challenge Trophy for most points in all classes of sheen and lambs was again won by Mr. J. McKelvie with 74 points. He has only io bo successful next year to win the trophy outright. * Cpokery and Sewing. T|he home industries classes were very well filled, and the quality of the cooking was pronounced by the judge to bq excellent. Judges.
