WAR MATERIALS EXHIBITION

PRESENT BY CHINESE GOVERNMENT.

Among surprises which are promised at the War Materials Exhibition, which wil’ be opened at the Drill Hall, Buckle Street, on Saturday afternoon, will be the exhibit presented by the Chinese Government to New Zealand for tho National War Museum. The exhibit is made up of three, sections. Ihe first comprises the Chinese decorations of the MTiito Eagle and the Tiger, each in nine classes. In the second, section appear samples of full dress uniform of every rank in the Chinese Army and Navy. The third section, however, is the most impressive and is likely to attract wide attention. It comes direct from the Shanghai arsenal, and shows tho production of the modern Chinese rifle in no fewer than 650 processes. Musketry experts pronounce the rifle, with bayonet affixed, to be fully equal to any 'modern Western weapon, and declare that it speaks volumes for the progress which the Chinese have made in the science of war. Other official exhibits are those ot the Japanese. Indian. Greek, United States,' and British Governments, all of which possess a special interest of their own. Throughout the display, which will be carried on for a fortnight, special films of the Great M ar, including several of the New Zealand Mounted Brigade in Palestine, will bo shown, and music will be provided by the Artillery and Ist Battalion Bands.
