Mr. Kevin O'Higgins, the Free State Minister of Home Affairs, in an interview, threw a new light on de Valera’s part in the Anglo-Irish peace negotiations. He said that de \ alera. had approved and strenuously pressed for a compromise, including the oath to the King. Michael Collins for several days refused to go to London as a peace plenipotentiary. Eventually he yielded to de Valera’s persuasion at a secret session of the Dail, at which de Valera emphasised the terrible effect of refusing a compromise.
