THE LATEST KEEL
The h; kind of shin's keel known as the “duct” keel seems likely to become universal in a very short time. Two new’ liners which arc to be. built in British yards are both to bo constructed with this keel. Its peculiarity is that instead of being a single vertical plate, us in an ordinary ship, it is in tho form of a box-shaped girder. This girder provides a clear passage from tho bow to the stem, and in this passage nil the pines for the bilge water pumps and the oil fuel supply may lie accommodated-
