It is" rumoured that the Duke of Devonshire has resigned, from the 'chairmanship of the British Empire Exhibition, and that. Sir Robert Horne has not accepted an invitation to succeed him. It is understood the Duke of Devonshire’s resignation is not connected with Sir W. Joynson-Hicks’s report which will bo issued to-morrow, but is due to the difficulty of retainin'- the post- since his appointment as Colonial Secretary.—Aus.-N.Z Cable Assn.
