He travelled out by the old Kaiwarra-Ngaio road, and from tho top of the rise made for the breezy Khandallah uplands, which undulate pleasantly from the railwav to a. line above the Hutt Road—a district tho Mayor is positive will one day carry a big population. It was finished right to the big cutting— at present only a tunnel—that, was going to make a short cut on the way down to tho Hutt Road. “Tlie grade of the now road is nice and easy.” said the M.ayor, “and I have no doubt, that nretty well all the vehicular traffic to the district will use it when it is made available. What , will be of great value in the future is i the discovery of a nm+nl quarry on ‘ City Council land. This metal has been used extensively on the new road, and will be just the thing that will bo wanted to keep tho rood in order hi the future. The' City Council’s Homebush estate is pretty well roaded. and some of the roads are metalled as well. The who’-* district is looking particulnrly well just now.” Asked if the intention of the council was tn sell the Homehush estate ns soon as the reading was completed, the. Mavor stated that there would be nr, such move until aff-°r the poll was taken for. water and drainage in the district. That would be on election day, Thursday, April 2G.
