CELLING! ON 5xuCK EXCHANGE YESTERDAY'S BUSINESS AND PRICES Two sales of New Zealand Refrigerating shares (£1 paid) at 275. each, reported, were the only transactions recorded yesterday. There was a good demand for gilt-edged securities, but prices were practically unchanged. For tho 4| per cent. Inscribed Stock and Bonds, 1939, buyers offered £97, but for the 4| per cent, duo 1938, buyers reduced their offers by 2s. 6d. to £97. The 5 per cent. P.O. War Bonds. 1927, wero ss. higher at £97 ss. Tho oj per cents, were unchanged. Bank shares wero quiet. Bank of Australasia shares at £l3 os. exhibit- a drop of 2s. 6d. on the last recorded quotation which was on Wednesday last. Union Bank shares were up Is. Gd., buyers offering £l3 los. 6d. There were no buyers of other bank shares. National Mortgage shares wero up 2s. with buyers at £3 17s. Goldsbrough Mort and Co.’s shares were a shade weaker at £2 ss. 3d. Wellington Gas shares were very firm, but prices showtxl no variation on Saturday’s quotations. Insurance shares were .steady. Nat’onal Insurance shares were in demand at £3 12s. and Standard Insurance shares at 345. Gear Meat shares were very firm, buyers offering 38s. 6d. There were buyers of Wellington Meat Export shares (£3 12s. 6d. paid) at £2 17s. Gd. Transport shares were very firm. Buyers repeated their bids of £2 14s. Gd. and_£l for the respective issues of Huddart-Parker shares, and Union Steam preference) shares were 4d. higher at 19s. JOd. There were buyers of P. and O. Deferred Stock at £315. Coal shares were steadv. There were buyers of Westport Coal shares at £1 155., and Waipa Colliery shares at 16s. Gd. Leyland and O’Br’en Timber shares were 3d. higher at £1 15s. 3d.
