The fact that there are several cases of sickness, caused through colic and summer dysentery, in Auckland at present, has’ raised a question as to whether the water supply is responsible (says the “Herald"). Hr. \\ . £liljnour," pathologist and bhcteriologist at the district hospital, states that ho makes analysis of the city water frequently enough to keep e. complete control'over its quality. From a bacteriological point of v,ew, he said, the water is very good, and quite safe. Owing ito the recent heavy rainfall the water has -.been clouded, but there is absolutely nothing to worry about in that connection. Dr. Gilmour added: that ho did no-t. think any of the prevailing sickness is due to'the city water. Regular analysis of the supply are also made by the medical officer of health', and from that quarter it was ascertained that there is nothing in the water to show a cause for sickness.
