PUNITIVE OPERATIONS AGAINST MAHSUDS
SOBERING EFFECTS OF BOMBING
BY TELEGRAPH—PBESS ASSOCIATION. —COPYRIGHT. Delhi, January 9. Punitive bombing operations continue against the Mahsuds and appear to have had a sobering effect on the inhabitants of the bombed areas. The actual casualties were small, but tho material damage is great. One tribe, which recently abducted officers and their attendants, _ previously recalcitrant, is now talking peace. Tho inhabitants of Makin are apparently suffering from guilty consciences, and are busy digging themselves in. Work on the Razmak road is being carried on without mx£h interruption, though a prominent tribal leader threatens to oppose tho advance of our troops to Razmak. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
