The Public Trust Office was established, not to make profits, but to supply a | public requirement in the shape of an executor and trustee, capable, trustworthy, a’nd permanent. The charges have been designed with the object merely of providing sufficient remuneration to meet the expenses of the office and to enable an adequate assurance and reserve fund to be built up. A scale of commission has been adopted, varied to meet special classes of estates, and as charges are based on the realised values of the assets dealt with it will he seen that / it is to the interests of the office as well: as of its clients, that the best results should bo obtained. While imposing a mod- "1 erate scale of charges, the Public Trustee adopts a liberal policy in creating interest on funds held on behalf of estates. When an estate come to be dietribntwd amongst those ' entitled it is not infrequently found even in estates that have been but a comparatively sliest title in the office that the interest credited exceeds the charges deducted. .
