At the final meeting of the committee to-dav, tho secretary stated that the position was similar to that obtaining last week, the number of mem out of unemployment being approximately 260. There was cash in hand amounting to £3O. We are only beating the air if we como here without doing anything, and we can t do anything if the public will not come forward with funds.” said 1 the chairman, Mr. Black. . He said the people were becoming tired of giving, for there were so many objects to give to. It was agreed that tho committee could do no more,, as it had exhausted every means in' its power of raising money. ,
