AUSTRALIAN CONFERENCE. Sydney, November 3. The Australasian Press Conference ipassed a resolution that the Commonwealth Government bp asked to introduce the New Zealand Government's system of making one check and charging for the bulk total of words for each day, the object being the expediting of Press telegrams to country newspapers. The rules were amended to provide a committee of eighteen'for New South Wales and Victoria, four for Queensland and New Zealand, thjee for South Australia, and two for West Australia. Mr. R. S. Bain, acting-manager of the Pacific Cable Board, stated that the duplication of the Pacific cable would be commenced immediately. Wien it Was completed the SydneyAuckland cable would be used for intercolonial communications, while the line via Southport, would be used for international messages. —Press Assn.
