FATAL ACCIDENT ON LAMBTON QUAY
TRAMWAY CONDUCTOR KILLED A peculiar accident, which had a fata) ending, happened on Lambten Quay just before 5 o’clock yesterdav afternoon. A tram conductor named L. E. Archer, a married man, 27 years of age, residing at Mills Road. Vogoltown. had completed his day’s work and was going on again on special duty.. He had just changed the destination signal or the car he was on. and was going round to see if the number was correct, when ho struck his head against a centre pole and fell unconscious. He ’ was taken to the Hospital by Inspector Hughes, of the Tramway Department, and Constable Nash, after being attended to by Dr. Platts-Mills. but died at 8.10 p.m.
