OVER NAPIER MUNICIPAL DISMISSALS TAME ENDING TO PROTEST MEETING RY TXTiKHKAPH — AFROCTITTfIH’ Napier, May 14A largely-attended public meeting on Saturday, called with the cbiect of protesting against toe Borough Council’s decision to dispense with the services of the manager of tho tramways, the electrical engineer, and six other employees in the tramways ana electric lighting departments, had a somewhat negative result. After toe difficulty of procuring a chairman for tljp meeting had been overcome, an irregular discussion preceded the moving of a motion suggesting that the council be requested to reconsider the decision relating to toe two heads of departments pending’ an investigation by a competent electrical engineer mud an accountant. An amendment was then moved that the meeting take no consideration of salaried employees while wageearners are not being considered. ffdio amendment was declared carried, nnd "the meeting terminated without any further proposals being made.
