A NOTE OF WARNING
COMPETITIONS AND THE STAGE. Concluding his address at the Competitions' prize-giving ceremony in the Town Hall on Saturday night, the elocutionary judge (Mr. Bernard Flohm) emphatically stated that competitions should not be regarded as a training ground for the stage. "I want to sound a note of warning to the parents of brilliant children," Ee said. "These competitions are not a training ground for the stage. . . No matter how brilliant they are, children should not be taken away from school on account of their talent. They should not be allowed to leave until after the matriculation period."
Mr. Flohm added that children should not he allowed toe much "limelight" and. at first, should not have too much use made of then - talent. By observing these rules, the children would have nn opportunity of developing into bright and happy persons.
