MASTERTON PROSECUTIONS. By Telegraph—Special Correspondent. Masterton, September 16. The sequel to a recent police raid was heard in the Masterton Magistrate’s Court, when William Edward Harvey, licensee of the Tauem Hotel, was charged with having on Saturday, August 27, kept hb> premises open after closing hours, and with having on the same date sold liquor during prohibited nours. Other charges were preferred against George Beale, Thomas Pritchard, Robert Wallace, and William Dobson, who were found on the premises of the Taueru Hotel after closing hours on August 27. Mr. W. Noble represented all tho defendants. Beale, Pritchard, and Wallace pleaded guilty, and were fined 20s. and 7s. costs. Harvey, who pleaded not guilty, was convicted and fined -£lO and costs on the first charge, the second charge being dismissed. Dobson, who worked on a station in tho vicinity, pleaded not guilty. He said that he had attended a football match in the afternoon, and had called nt the htoel for tea, intending to stay the night. Tho charge was dismissed.
