Tho sailor guests keenly enjoyed the provision mado for their comfort at the concert given by Mrs. Judd at the Sailors’ Friend Society on Thursday. Tho performers were Miss Rudd and Messrs. Manning, Vai-Jones, Reed, Corwall. Miss Judd was at th© piano. There was no lack of entries in the competitions, for which prizes were donated Mrs. and Miss Judd and Mr Haddon. The winners wero th© Corinthic, Athenic, Port Lyttelton, Amokura. Mr. Moore spoke feelingly of the response to the plea for books through tho Press.
