MANAWATU AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS.

The preliminary bouts of the Manawatu Boxing Association’s amateur chainpionships took place last night. The attendnnee was not large, and the Sport was on the whole rather tame. In tho bantam-weights, M'Kenzio (Napier) had a bye. and Mahoney (Palmerston North) easily defeated Price (Feilding). In the feather-weights D. Canton (Palmerston North) "had a bye, AA'. Allen (Timaru) being unable to make tho weight. Tn the bout between Boncttl (Marton) and "Dillon (Palmerston North) the former won after a fairly strenuous contest.

In the light-weights, Storriek (Napier;, the Hawke’s Bav champion, easily disposed of AV. Allen (Timaru). The fight between Butler (Palmerston North) and Grady (Feilding) awarded to Butter on a foul. Liddell 'Palmerston North) was outfought from the start by F. H. Redward (D»n,nevlrke). Bert O’Keefe (Palmerston North) easily disposed of W. Gosling, jun. (Palmerston North) in the second round.
