LYALL BAY MUNICIPAL ELECTORS

The annual report of the Lyall Bay Municipal Electors’ Association states that the representations of the association- to the Reserves Committee of the City Council in regard to Lyall Bay beach improvements lie, as yet, .in pigeon-holes at the Town Hall. the committee is of the opinion that until those unsightly sheds which hamper tho beach, impede the view, and destroy the beauty of the locality are removed, no satisfactory advancement can be looked for in this direction. After detailing numerous district works, in which the association interested itself, the report eaye:—"Some, of these things have received recognition, but the greater number are delayed by reason of financial stress. The committee hopes, however, by persistent activity, to keep them before the authorities, reminding them that the representations of residents x who care sufficiently for the welfare of their city to take up the selfappointed tasks of such organisations as ours are entitled to careful consideration and as prompt attention as it is possible to give. TJie association’ has been actively represented at meetings of the Eastern Suburbs Citizens’ League, the Town Planning Association, and) the newlyformed Civic League by Messrs. Bertram, Blake, Donovan, Jones, Ryder, and Leuchars. Many subjects have from time to time been referred to the Eastern Suburbs League, and have always received careful and prompt attention. ? The committee desires it to be known that. they are anxious at all times to discuss matters of interest with the residents in this district, and especially those regarding desirable improvements, and will be grateful to receive suggestions on these things at any time. Members’ subscriptions totalled £T 7s. 6d. Subscriptions toward the expenses of the last municipal elections £8 19s. 6d., and by the kindness of Mr. F.
