Mr. L. C. Hazlitt, who is a prominent figure in the Otago Hunt Club, won three races at Saturday s meeting .with the aid of Luigi and the half-brothers Galway and Lomangundi. While riding Tirau in the View Halloa Steeplechase at Marton, H. Burt got one of his feet badly crushed, and he had to get medical attention on the course. '

When Onipoto won the Hunt Cup at Marton he appeared to be lame on. returning to the birdcage, but he quickly threw it. off, and. walked home apparently little the worse for his effort.

The attention of owners is directed to the closing of acceptances for the Ashburton meeting. These are due on Thursday at 5 p.m.

Acceptances for the Otaki and Avondale meetings close on Friday. It Is expected that Verbosity will be allowed to forfeit his engagement at Feilding on Saturday, and his next public appearance will ba in the big handicap at the Otaki meeting. H. Telford is taking six horses to the Wanganui meeting, and after doing the first day the team will probably be returned to Otaki.

Zouane, the Martian —Rose Red colt, purchased by Mr. Chas. Elgar for 800 guineas at the November .' sales in Christchurch, is showing a lot of pace in his work at Tauherenikau, and bids fair! to reach a high mark amongst this season’s two-year-olds.

Bonnie Heather is now carrying, a lot of condition, and looks very well. He will make his first appearance this season at tine Masterton meeting next month.

L. A. Crawford is railing Chatswallow froin Featherston to Feilding on Thursday. The chestnut mare is engaged in the Hack Hurdles at the Manawatu Hunt Club’s meeting. Two of J. M'Combe’s brood ,maree have been sent to the Elderslie Stud. Subterfuge (Cannie IChiel—fOounterfeit) will'be mated with Paper Money, while Leading Lady (Royal 'Artillery—Sopra) will be mated with Tractor.

The annual general /meeting of tho Wellington Trotting Club has been postponed till September 21. Pyjama; has developed lameness in one of his knees, and is to be given a long spell Mr. Murchison, one of the N.Z. Racing Conference’s stipendiary stewards, returned from a visit to Sydney by the Riverina. Mr. Murchison will probably take up his residence permanently in Australia shortly, says “Whalebone” in the Auckland "Star."
