The Australians played z their final match of the tour to-day, at Whitehaven, meeting a Cumberland team, and winning on the first innings. Cumberland batted first, and scored 201. Aus-tralia,-at the’end of the day’s play had ’lost eight wickets for 284. The weather was fine and the wicket excellent. Play throughout was lively and interesting, including some hard smiting and Several sixers. Andrews and Taylor had a breezy partnership, and added 9i lyins, Taylor hitting two sixers and ten 4’s. Pellew had the carpal bone of the left hand fractured, and had to retire. ’ are the scores: —
Analysis.—Pellew took two wickets for 28 runs; Ryder, none for 8; Andrews, one for 16; Mailey, four for 84; M'Donald, nene for 13; Hendry, none for 11; Collins,’ three for 12.
