MAGISTRATE’S COURT
FIGHT AT A FOOTBALL MATCH. Walter Pollock and James Francis Burton, two young men, pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday to using threatening behaviour at Athletic Park on Saturday. The men, who were under the influence of liquor, engaged ma fight. The, Magistrate (Mr. F. K. Hunt) fined each of them £1 and costa. AValter Hill pleaded guilty to attempting to commit suicide on Friday last. Inspector Muggeridge stated that the young man came to town from Akatarawa, with £6 that was given to him by his mother. He started drinking, took an irritant' and collapsed in Vivian Street. He was removed to the hospital and certain expenses were incurred. Hill was convicted-and ordered to pay £2 16s. 6d. expenses, and a prohibition order was issued against him. John Curran was convicted of being an incorrigible rogue, in that he was found sleeping in a railway carriage at Lambton station. Curran pleaded for chance, and said he would go at once into the country, where he could get work. Ho was ordered to come up for sentence when called upon.
