POLICE, CIVIL AND BY-LAW CASES Ths police business in the Magistrate's Court yesterday was dealt with by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M. j Frank Pilling Rickards pleaded guilty to defrauding House nad Daking, Ltd.. Taumarunui, of £5. Chief Detective Ward stated, that tho younpr man did a flyliig trip over the Main Trunk line, and ob’ tained tho £5 by issuing a worthiest cheque. Subsequently he was arrested on a similar charge, and on Juno 1 7 h» was sentenced to a term of two months Imprisonment at ’Palmerston North, or which one month had expired. Accused was sentenced to a month s imprisonment, to run concurrently with the term nq was already serving. A remand to appear at Christchurch on July 15 was granted in the case of Wiliam H. F. Baldwin for riding a motorcycle' past a stationary tramcar was fined 10s. and 7s. costs. . For failing to register thenr dogs. Henry Bates. Ellen Collier, and F. Hallter were each ordered to pay 7s. costs, and A. Sutherland was fined 10s. and 7s. costs. John Stewart, was fined 4i)h. and ’a. costs for allowing stock to . wander.
