WELLINGTON WINTER MEETING TRENTHAM TRACK WORK. There was a very heavy frost all over the Hutt Valley yesterday, and tho course at Trentham was covered by a white sheet when training work started shortly after 8 a.m. J. Hughes was one of tho first out, and ho sent Militaire and Solfanella separately to do light tasks. Lord Martian was given steady work and Royal Exchange also got off lightly. Jock, by himself, again did well by cutting out a mile on the grass in lmin. 48sec. llhume we.nt once round, and finished at a strong pace down the straight. Gamecock was given serviceable work over two rounds, and S. Trilford s other pair, Royal Mao and Battle Scene, cantered round to the five furlongs and ran home in lmin. 7eec. A useful gallop. Battle Knight and Bagdad did about a mile under a strong pull. Income, alone, "brushed. down the straight. ’ Chant Royal wab worked on the Hand. Callaghan comfortably beat No Bother over six furlongs in lmin. 21sec., which was one of the best gallops of the morning. Royal Star and Caverock were given a round at three-quarter once, and brushed home down tho straight. Forest Gold and Arch Salute were again responsible for good work. They ran coven furlongs in lmin. 36sec. Stork, Gladful, and Vagabond ran a mile in lmin. Msec. The Trial Stakes candidate Ditchley pleased by the way he got over four furlongs in 54sec. Hyttus was much too good for Matatun in a mile gallop, the last seven furlongs taking lmin. 38sec. Silk Rein ran away from Jingleform over four furlongs, the mare doing the distance in 52soc. Hitters and Menelaus were on terms at the end of six furlongs in lmin. 2-ssec. Sylvan and Archie ran five furlongs in lmin. Bsec. Admiral Codrington was too good lor Bonny Maid and Miss Muriel at the end of six furlongs in lmin. 24sec. Treso and Some Fashion were associated over five furlongs, which took Imm. Bscc. There was a lot of jumping done over hurdles and the brush fences. Lord Kenilworth gave an excellent showing over three fences with Tigritiya, and the latter also shaped well. Wild Pilgrim by himself did a round over five hurdles. Omahu and Multive both gave a good exhibition over three hurdles. Maniahera went extremely well in a circuit, over hardies with Penury Ross and General Advance. He outjumped the other pair at each fence. Alteration jumped well witn Demagogue in a round over fences, and Dick by himself also gave a good showing. Sturdee jumped three fences on the course proper, and a like task was given Oakleigh and Malahini. Two of Mr. Eric Riddiford’s broon marcs. Cooing (Boniform— Ringdove) and Ch'akwnna (Hierarch—Peace) have been bookei} to tho Spearmint horse Catmint for the coming season. The last has been seen of Hymarty c-> the race track.
