The committee of the League of Nations, reporting on the disarmament problem, says that what is needed is the acceptance of a one-power standard by Britain and America jointly, and an agreement between the two regarding the number, size, and armament of . the capital ships each should maintain.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. AMERICA’S BIG NAVY SCHEME EEDUCTTON WOULD NOT AFFECT RELATIVE POSITION. (Rec. April 26, 10.15 p.m.) Washington, April 25. Mr. Kelley, in the House of Representatives, in asking for the passage of the Naval Bill, declared that President Harding favours the completion of the 1916 naval building programme before the United States agrees to any disarmament. Mr. Kelley pointed out that if tho United States had a navy equal to that of any other in the world, redjuctirxn would ,bo proportionate, and tho United States’ relative position would not be affected. He added: "When America and Britain can go to sea as equals, /there will bo few questions that an intelligent statesmanship cannot settle." —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
