BOOKMAKING CHARGES
A VERDICT Ol' GUILTY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, February 19. In the case of 'William V. Whitta, who appealed at the Supreme Court on foux - charges of bookmaking, the jury returned a verdict of guilty on all counts. His Honour said, as there was a question of law reserved for the Appeal Courj, he would postpone sentence until the point had been decided. In the meantime the prisoner would be admitted to bail in his own bond of £5OO and a surety of £5OO.
