' The weather was fine, and there was a, larr>e attendance. The ground "was heavy. The match was an intcrestine exhibition. The Southland forwards were too heavy for the visitors, whose good back play saved them ou more than ouo occasion. The local backs were outclassed by the visitors. MANAWATU BEAT SOUTHERN COUNTRY .
