Brigadier-General G. S. Kichardson, General Officer in Chavge of Administration, who has been on an official visit to the south, is expected to return to Wellington this morning.

Mr. H. J. Thompson,, of Messrs. Thompson Bros., Ltd., Wellington, who lias been abroad for the past twelvo: months, is expected to arrive back in the Dominion early in November.

Ward, first assistant, Local De-puty-Public Trustee, Auckland; Mr. E. T. 0. Downard, district accountant, Auckland; Mr. P. J. llyan, district solicitor, Auckland. The Hon. H. L. Michel was yesterday granted three days' leave of absence t'rom the Legislative Council on account of urgent private business. A week's leave of absence on account of illness was granted tho Hon. li. K. Simpson. Mr. J., O'Donovan, Commissioner of Police, is confined to his house with on attack of influenza. Mr. Leo de Chateau, representing E. 3. Carroll, Ltd., has returned from a business visit to Sydney.

Mr. Charles E. Cuming, formerly of the "New Zealand Times" staff, afterwards editor of tho "Journal" of the Deapartment of Agriculture, and for several years past editor of the "New Zealand Farmer,"' is taking a profit-shariii-j editorial position on the new paper, "The Dairy Farmer," to be published by tho New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company. His associate will be Mr. R. P. Connel, of the Department of Agriculture. He will be succeeded on the "New Zealand Farmer," by Dr. Freeman, a former instructor in the Department, who will have associated with him Mr. E. Clifton, who was New Zealand Commissioner at the Panama Exposition.
