CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTORS
"A Soldier's Widow," in a' letter too lonpr for publication in full, writes:— "There has been much ado of late over the so-called conscientious objectors. _ I ; notice a number of returned soldiers object to the release of these men. Noy, why should they object? Why shouldthey judge these unfortunate men? If" more of us took up. a more Inmiano view nn many things this would bo a, better land to live in. The world to-dny is full of sin and crime of all. kinds. What is going to do the healing? Kindness only. Certainly not punishment. ; By punishment you sometimes get what you Trent, not lij- love but by fear. Thus nate grows. Now, by punishing these- j men, will it make them more loyal should. .' we want their aid in future, wars, and '• will it make them better citizens?"
