WORKERS' CONCESSION TICKETS
L.Ii.C. DEPUTATION/TO MINISTER. Tho desirableness of continuing the issue of workers' concession tickets on the Wellington tramways was urged by tlia Wellington Labour 'Representation Committee through a deputation that waited on the Minister of Public Works (the Hon. J. G. Coates) yesterday morning. The spokesmen were Messrs. It. M Keen, Singleton, and A. L. Monteith. The proposal of tho City Council to apply for revocation of the Order-111-Council requiring workers' tickets to bo issued. 011 the trams was evidently uppermost in the minds of the speakers. They gave the Minister to understand, that if the council proceeded in accordance with the recommendation ,ot tlie Tramways Committee at Thursday s meeting their wishes would bo met. Mr. MTveen observed that the deputation had been "practically forestalled by the action of the 1 Tramways Committee. Tho Minister stated that before h« took anv action with regard to tho Order-in-Council' ho would very carefully consider the pros and cons. He wished to see everything possible done to help tho workers to live outside the crowded areas.
