PATHETIC LETTER TO PARENTS. Br Telegraph—l'ress Association. Ciiristchurch, August C. The body of Charles Carter, a returned soldier, need thirty. ■ formerly residing nt Ills parents' residence, Grafton Street, was found in Victoria Park, Cashmere Hills, this morning, with fatal shot wounds. The police earlier in the dny had received from hjs parents the following letter:—'"August 5. 1920. Hoar Mother and Father,—l tried to do this fifteen years ago; but although life was not worth living I could not leave you nil. I cannot postpone it any lorser. I hope you will forgive mo and believe It is best from all points of view. I have been living (mentally) in hell so long, ami my nerves are so decayed that I am taking this nifans of uniting body ami soul again. You will find my remains on Dyer's Pas? Uoail. It is better to end life there than linger on In Sunnyside. Please say good-bye to nm; . They have been my greatest enmrort for ten years. Good-bye to nil tho family.—Charley. At an inquest held concerning tho dentti of Carter, a verdict wns returned Hint death wns due to a gunshot wound, self-inflicted whilst deceased was tempoiarily insane.
