INDUSTRIAL PROBLEMS
NATIONAL CONFERENCE PROPOSAL SUPPORTED. By Telegraph-Special Correspondent. Masterton, July 21. Mr. A. P. Harper, Dominion organiser for tho Welfare League, addressed a public meeting to-night on the pre posal to hold a conference of employers and employees with a view- to arriving at a settlement on industrial questions At the conclusion of Dr. Harper's address several speakers applauded tho dims of the league in desiring to bring about a conference. Tho following resolution, which was separately confirmed by previous meetings of tho local Employers' Association, the Farmera* Union, and the Labour Party, was carried unanimously: "That this publio meeting of citizens of Masterton supports the proposal that the. Government oonvene a national industrial conference at which actual employers and workers should l>o present for the purpose of considering the questions proposed by tho Welfare League."
