MANAWATU A. AND P. ASSOCIATION

(From Our Special Correspondent.

Palmerston North, July 20. A largely otteuded meeting of the MAna.wa.tu and Wwst Coast A. and P. Association Committoo was held this aorning, when it was decided to hold tu<s bpnng Show ou November 3 4 find 5. ' '

It was reported that owing to tho ener?lrr- llew president, Mr \V Mhonzie, over 150 now membere had joined the society sinco tho last meoting, and a hearty vote of thanks was passed to him for his exertions. A long discussion took place on the question of only awarding half tho prize money m classes where there was a lack of competition, and a motion vns proposed that in future full prize money should be paid out except in cases -vherc tho judges did not consider the exhibit worthy of. a first owa.rd. It was pointed out that tho prize money given was not commensurate with the metropolitan standing of tho show, and the motion was carried, while it was further decided to givo tho Schedule Committee power to iucreas© the prize money in the various sections by 20 per cent., they having discretion to allocate it in tho manner they considered mcst fitting. It was announced that the following Breeders' Society medals had been allocated for the Spring Show, Hereford breeders' gold medals for winner of the Levett perpetual clip for ehampicji Hero* ford bull, and gold medal for yearling Hereford bull; N.Z. Sheep Breeders' Association (North Island), gold medal for best two-tooth Southdown ram.

In tho schedule for dairy cattle it was decided to delete tho words "uny breed or cross" and substitute "registered pure bred cattle not eligible to compete." It was decided in all cases whore pens of five sheep had been provided for in the previous schedule that "five" should be altered to "three," this not to apply in the case of lambs.

A discussion took place on tho question of lining up cattle after the parade, several members pointing out that the practice was a dangerous one, and was not carried out at the Home shows, ft.nd it was eventually decided to keep tho whole parade of stock and horses moving during the time they were in the enclosure.

Messrs. J. Bull, ,T. Bachelar, and E, E. l'acey wero elocted to positions on the committee rendered vacant by rerfgniitioM.

The question cf necessary improvements to the show grounds was brought up, it being freely admitted that such a state of things as existed at tlic Inst Win- 1 ter Show could not l)e allowed to continue, the ground being ankle deep ih mud and wtiter, oven in the enclosure in front of the grandstand.- It was sventiially resolved to nsk tho Ground Committee to request tho Palmerston North Borough Council to have Cuba Street asphalted to it 6 full width in front of tho grounds, and that the committee endeavour to havo nn improved roadway mado from the front gates right back to tho grandstand, and also to liave the enclosure in front of that building asphalted.
