WHEAT FOR FOWLS
NONE AVAILABLE. Poultry raisers are at present having great 'difficulty in securing wheat. Apparently the difficulty is acute in Otago, and yesterday in the House of Representatives Mr. Sidey asked tho Minister of Agriculture what provision had been made for the supply of wheat for fowl feed for Otago.
Tho Mtnfsler (Mr Nosworthy) eaid that an allocation had been proposed early in tlio season, but it had been found impossible to carry it out because there hn<l not been the expected amount of wjie<it availablo. Tho supplies available had been allocated as carefully as possible, but the plain truth of tho matter was that there was not sufficient to go round for tho whole, year, and ho would take this opportunity of informing members of the House that it was useless for poultry people to look to tho Government to supply them with wheat. They would Lave to make the tat of things with oats, potatoes, or any other foods available. The Government had a tlnrd task already to find enough wheat for. bread for the people. He would see that of the wheat remaining in the hands of the controller a fair allocation was mado to Dunedin.
