WAIRARAPA NOTES

It has been decided to tender a social at Master ton on July 26 to Messrs. H. G. Millar. M.A., Itliodes Scholar) and I. G. Sutherland, winner of the Jacob Joseph Scholarship. The Hon. C, J. Parr and Sir Robert Stout (Chief Justice Rnd Chancellor of the New Zealand University) will bo invited to be present.

The second annual plain and , fancy (iress boll of tho Wairarapa R.S.A. was held in the Municipal Buildings, Masterton, last night. There wore about 250 couples present. The large hall, which was u3«l for dancing:, and the supper hall, were decorated under tho supervision of Mrs. W. Aston, a very tasteful effect being obtained through the use of mauvQ and yellow streamers suspended from tho centre of the ceiling and caught up again at' fch"e walls. Lycopodium was strung around tho walls interaperseu with red rosettes. 'The M.C.'fl were Messrs. J, Hebenton, J. Paku, H. M. Boddington, and W. Aston, and the chnpejwis wero Mcsdanrcs J. A. Cowles, D. (jasclberg, and W. H. Jackson. Miss 1!. Ikid as "Jazz" and Mr. W. To Tnu ns "Crown and Anchor" wore adjudged the wearers of the most original fancy dresses.
