BROKEN HILL DISTRESS FUND

A well-attended meeting of delegates from unions and Labour bodies was held last night in tho Trades Hall, to Tteviso ways and means of raising funds to reliovo the distress at Broken Hill. Mr. J. B. Williams, president of the Barrier Distress Committee, was present, iioml outlined what had been jdone in other centres. A strong committee was set up and it was decided that an energetic campaign bo ertlarted at lonco to collect funds. A ladies' committee, under the leadership of Mi's. Snow, will organise a fancy dress ball, which will 1)0 held probably in the large Town Hall. Officers of the general committee wero appointed as follow: Chairman, Mr. J, O'Brien; secretary, Mr. J. H. Jones; treasurer, Mr. J. Arbuckle. A house-to-house and street collections will form part of tho 'campaign. All collectors will carry written authority signed bv tho above-named officials.
