4 ARRIVES BY MOTOR LAUNCH. Sir George Clifford, president of the Racing Conference, yesterday readied Wellington .by motor launch from Picton. The action of tlie Mokoia's firemen in refusing to take the vesselout with Sir George Clifford aboard has not, therefore, had the anticipated effect of preventing hia attendance at the opening of the Racing Conference, -which will take place to-day. When Sir George Clifford made lis appearance last night at dinner hr the Royal Oak Hotel hie was greeted with hearty cheers by the other guests! Ho , had nothing to say to the Press about . his voyage! across Cook Strait. • and■-he- - declined to comment on the Mokoia incident.
