JOHNSONVILLE TOWN BOARD

» The monthly meeting of tho Johnsonvillo Town Board was held on Tuesday. There were present: Commissioners F. T. Moore (chairman), Bryant, Morgan, Hnr.Hngs, fikilner, and Sloane. The board received deputations from the Owl Club, Bowling Club, and other ratepayers. The engineer reported (rood progress with tho roads, water, am gas works. The ranger reported six prosecutions tor allowing stock to wander on tho roads. Fines were Imposed in each case. The board decided to support the Hamilton Borough Council in its appeal to the Government' to have tho duty removed from imported cement. The clerk was instructed to write, asking the Public Trustee, together with Mr. Bailey, to put tho right-of-way known as Gladestone Avenue in good order. Letters were received from tho Public Health Department and the Makara County Council regarding the present cite of tho swimming baths, as an outcome of which the Johusonville School Committee was notified that the sito was not suitable. Final arrangements were made to take a poll of the ratepayers for a loan to improve tho recreation grounds. Satisfaction was expressed by the board at the offer of the Sports Committee to hand over ,£3OO towards the maintenance of the Recreation Ground.
