NO NEED FOR GRAND JURIES

The Grand Jury at the Hokitika sessions of the Supremo Court made tho following recommendation: "The Grand Jury submits that the present, high standard of education, tho liberty of tho Press and the trustworthiness of the Magistracy have done away with tho necessity of grand juries, and rccuinrnendfl that steps bo taken to amend the jury_ system so that if not done away with altogether, grand juries should not be summoned excepting for offences the punishment for which may be death."
