DAMAGE TO THE MANAROA

The fire in the little 6teamer Manama •'' was apparently extinguished about 4 a.m. A start was made in the afternoon to get out the cargo by means of a railway crane. Three members of the fire brigade were overcome by smoke and fumes, and one was ordered to the hospital and-the other two to their homes. • Captain Johnson; who is also the owner, cam© from Kji to purchase a .-'■' boat for iriter-island' trade, and bought ''the ilanaroa and just had her refitted for this purpose. .The work was. completed only on Monday. 'It is" understood that" the'insurance is only for total loss of the vessel.
