MASTER BAKERS' UNION

The annual meeting of the Wellington Master Bakers' Industrial Union of Employers was held recently. The secretary, Mr. George J. Clarke, reported that'the union had made steady progress during the past "year, and its finance was in good condition. Mention was also jnade of-the increases in tho price of raw material and wages of both, operatives and drivers. It was ein- . phasised that. the Board of 'lrade and the Government, although coming to tlw assistance of the farmer and miller, would not meet the master bakers request for equitable treatment. Dunns the yeaiva smoke concert was held, and oil account; of its success it is to be an annual 'affair. Holidays were .phenomenal during tho past year. A bold policy of organisation is foreshadowed. A hearty vote of thanks wtvs accovdod to the letiring president, Mr. A. F. Tonks, for his untiring work in the general good of tho trade.
