The Petono Borough Council will meo* to-night. , „ „ . Tli; monthly sitting of the Petone Court will bo. held on Wednesday next, when reserved judgment will probably be delivered in the cases (Sough v. Evans, a claim for damngw; and Police v. Pudnev, nnd same v. Smith, alleged breaches of the Licensing Act. _ Tt is intended at eome future date to extend the buildings nnd playine-grounus of the Petone Catholic School, and a step was recently taken in that direction by the purchase of a house opposite the school in Britannia Street, to «e used as a Presbytery. The old Presbytery, which is now very out of date, is eventually to be removed, and the_site used for the extensions mentioned. Itev. Father Quealy, who is away until the end of the week is expected to rjo into occupation of the' new place whffn he returns. . . A well-known farmer from Wainui-o-r.iata Fays that recent mild rains have brought on a plentiful supply of good grass in thnt district, but the growth has been too Irtte to have any offset in the cows, which suffered as a result of the scarceness of crass cxnerienced during ths spring, the gardens which up to then had not been very forward wero now showing great improvement,. At the last meeting of Court Epuni seven members wero declared on. four off, nnd five ptill on the fund. . The D.S. wroto etatinß that tho executive would attfnd next Court meeting to present Bro. W. Clark with P.D.C.H, honours. Invitations are to be issued to Court Primrose and Court Bloomfield to bo present nt tho ceremony. Owing to a meeting of the Ueform Party being held on Snturday the Prime Minister (fit. Hon. W. F. Mnsscy) was unable to lisit the much talked of Pcvcy Gardens site lis promised, but he stated that ho would do so as soon as was convenient. During the w?ok five bicycles wero stolon from residents in the Valley, but Senior-Sergeant Bird has recovered four of them, and intends to take proceedings against the persons concerned.
